THRIFY TRAVEL AGAIN!! Name: shirley mcclellan ; SUBJECT: THRIFTY
TRAVEL SCAM ; CITY: Jacksonville ; STATE: Florida 32205 ; TELEPHONE:
9043870249 ; Date: 23 Aug 2007 ; Time: 10:15:22
I
AM ALSO HAVING A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THRIFTY TRAVEL. I PURCHASED 2
ORLANDO PACKAGES AS GIFTS. ALTHOUGH THERE WERE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE
SCHEDULING RESTRICTIONS, THEY WERE ADHERED TO & THE 3 REQUESTED WEEKS
WERE SUBMITTED & RETURNED BACK TO US AS UNAVAILABLE. SEVERAL MORE
ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO SCHEDULE WITH THE SAME RESULTS EVEN THOUGH WE
CALLED TO VERIFY WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WHICH IS HANDLED BY SPIRIT
TRAVEL IN FLORIDA. THERE IS A MINIMUM 60 DAYS B4 YOU CAN REQUEST ANOTHER
TARGET TIME SLOT & MUST HAVE AT LEAST 30 DAYS BETWEEN 1ST, 2nd, &
3RD CHOICES & NOT WITHIN 7 DAYS B4 OR AFTER HOLIDAYS, SO WITH AN
EXPIRATION DATE OF 04-07 I'M PRETTY MUCH DUPED BY THIS COMPANY. I'VE MADE
SEVERAL CALLS TO THRIFTY;S OWNER TOM LEHAY WHO PROMISES TO LOOK INTO THIS
& GET BACK WITH ME BUT NEVER DOES. IN THE MEANTIME, THE RADIO STATION
BARGAIN CHANNEL WJXR CONTINUES TO SELL THRIFTY TRAVEL PACKAGES EVEN THOUGH
THEY'RE AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS. IF IT WALKS LIKE A SCAM & TALKS LIKE
A SCAM! IT IS A SCAM!!

beware
of Thrifty
Travel Corporation, 804 s. Broadway St., suite 2, Georgetown, Ky. 40324,
502-868-0025 - (Jenny,
Long Beach, California) UBID.COM
THRIFTY TRAVEL CORPORATION - I purchased a 4 day/3 night Lake Tahoe
vacation from Thrifty Travel on UBID.com The certificate supposedly also
allows me to travel to other destinations like Hawaii. Thrifty Travel uses
a 3rd party broker service to book the travel reservations. The 3rd party
travel service says my certificate is not valid for travel to Lake Tahoe
or Hawaii. I've been trying to call Thrifty Travel but no one ever picks
up the telephone, it goes directly to voicemail. And they don't return my
calls! I email them and they respond but they always give you the
run-around saying, they'll look into it but they never do and they don't
ever give an answer back. It's been over 1.5 years that I've been trying
to resolve this certificate. I spent $96 and they won't refund. The better
business bureau has a dissatisfactory record on them. UBID customer
service told me they have a few complaints about this vendor. Buyers
beware!!

big
mistake by travel company costs consumer big money - (Linda
Laken, Cedar Creek, Nebraska) On April 11, 2002, I contacted
Prestige Travel, 14211 Pacific St., Omaha, NE 68154 - Theresa was the
agent. I asked her to book a flight for my daughter, Amanda, to Manaus
Brazil. Theresa had done this the previous summer for me. She also took
care of Amanda's visa information. I told her the dates and times I wanted
(from looking it up on the internet). I did not ask her to book a return
as I did not know which city Amanda would be flying out of. When my
daughter got to Miami on June 22, the Brazilian Airlines, Varig, would not
let her get on the plane to Manaus, Brazil, as she only had a one way
ticket. I had to pay an additional $1253.00 (plus the $880.00 she didn't
use) to fly here from Miami to Sao Paulo (an 8 hour flight) then another 4
hours to Brazil. Plus, she needed to stay at the Miami Airport for 8 hours
(she was 18 at the time). In hindsight, I should have known I guess about
the one way ticket. But that is why I didn't book it myself, because I
thought the travel agent could tell me what I needed to know. When I
contacted the agent in person, she told me she wasn't responsible I didn't
ask if there were any restrictions. Varig Airlines told me that all
American travel agents were informed of the one way ticket rule. I accept
part of the responsibility but feel I should receive a credit or
something. The travel agency did not even apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you

Hotels.com
advertised a special, then
booked and confirmed my reservation at a special price, but charged full
price to my credit card. BEWARE!
When I tried to contact the company, they called me a liar several times,
used stall tactics, and refused to allow me to speak with the supervisor.
It has been a week and a supervisor still has not contacted me regarding
this problem. (BETrLAT238@aol.com,
no city or state given). Whether
it's a mistake or a scam, poor customer service is inexcusable!!!

All
about travel agency, Rochester Indiana:
During
May of 2000 a contract was signed with the
All
About Travel Agency for a cruise to the Bahamas. A $1200.00
check was sent to agency as a down payment. In November of 2000, the
agency told the consumer that the cruise line had filed for
bankruptcy. In fact, the agency then filed for bankruptcy and the
consumer lost the $1200.00 down payment. A court has since found in
favor of the customer, but the money is not forthcoming due to the
bankruptcy filing.
Warning!!!!
watch your travel agent. do not pay in advance with cash.
check with your hotel, cruise line, resort, etc. to make sure you
